My God, I wish I knew the intention of my Beloved.
He has taken my heart. My decision has disappeared.
My escape route has been blocked. Continue reading “My God, I Wish I Knew (3/19/2023)”

O my heart-catching, life-taking Beauty
whose face is more beautiful than the moon,
since You have become my friend,
the light of my heart has burst out of my mouth flame after flame. Continue reading “Paradise (3/5/2023)”
You left me nameless like heart and soul.
You made me clap without hands, like joy and pleasure.
I said, “You made me walk out of time and space.
Souls have no place, so where am I going?”

A letter came for me from the other world.
It said, “Get ready for return.
Carry all your belongings to the sky.” Continue reading “I Will Be Free (2/5/2023)”
O heart, you and His troubles are here.
This should be enough for you.
When you fall into the troubles of Love,
the soul becomes your slave and servant.
Once you drink a glass of wine from His hand,
you will no longer care about kingdoms and treasures,
even if the cost is a mere single penny.

O heart, what did you find in all of your lootings,
in those pillagings where you spread out all of your belongings?
What did you find before you closed the door?
In this ruined building, you still keep making webs with your own saliva
in order to catch flies like the spider of greed. Continue reading “Sometimes (11/20/2022)”
What are you looking for in the village of your illusions?
Why are you washing your eye with the blood of your heart?
All your being, head to toe, is God.
O ignorant one who doesn’t yet know Himself,
what are you looking for besides You?

When my soul becomes a mirror to the secrets,
I can remain silent, yet cannot help but to know them. Continue reading “Listen to My Straight Talk (6/26/2022)”
One cannot reflect our fire,
nor can one articulate the secrets of our heart.
Our early morning sighs are not confidants with whom we share our troubles,
nor is a friendly soul even to be found to hear those sighs.
We are not the pearl which has been found in the sea,
nor are we a sea which ever rests.
We are not the meaning which comes from words,
nor are we words which can be said.
Language is like a canal for meanings.
But, how could such a sea fit in this canal?
Every piece of the soul’s world makes a new world,
but such a new world could never fit in someone’s mouth.
Divan-i Kebir, Volume 19, ghazal 269, verses 2756-2761, page 121.
O cupbearer, take some of the weight off of the drunks.
It’s hard to see anyone of value
who isn’t being crushed by troubles and worries.
O rose-faced, cypress-statured Beauty,
come to the rose garden.
You won’t find anything which gives better shade than the cypress. Continue reading “Like the Sun (5/1/2022”
